How I'm Making My Life Work for Me (instead of the other way around)

"Rachel, how do you make your life work for you? Here I am. I've done all of the "right things", yet I feel like there's more. It's a scary conversation I have in my mind because I don't know what I could be doing differently. All I know is I know there has to be another way to live and experience my life, and I'm hoping you can help me."
I have conversations every week with soul sisters, acquaintances, and new friends that have connected with me online that sound like this.
First, I want to say what an honor it is to be in any kind of position to share wisdom that could help someone else find alignment, purpose, and clarity in their life. Second, I believe that I can't tell anyone anything that I have not experienced myself. So note to self: When the personal and professional work feels hard, I choose say "bring it on" because I know it's going to allow me to shine the light in the dark, hard places for others.
The conversation continues on and the main points usually include...
- Desiring a greater sense of purpose and making a positive impact in life and work.
- Wanting to experience more spaciousness in time and finances to continue to grow as a human and do things that feed the soul like travel, have new experiences, spend more time with friends and loved ones, and put heart-expanding work out into the world.
- A sense of frustration that there is a perfect time to make changes, but something is wrong because it hasn't opened up and presented itself. The years just seem to keep going by.
Before I go any further I want to breathe a little life into you if it feels like I'm speaking directly to your heart.
Friend, I deeply believe that you have your own best answers and solutions inside of you. No one can tell you your truth but you. Everyone else does not have the riddle solved leaving you the only one who does not. You are exactly where you need to be to learn what you need to know; what you decide to do with the data and knowledge you gain is entirely up to you. The folks you follow, and perhaps put on a pedestal, do not have everything figured out, and they are not perfect. They've simply made a choice to get started, to keep going, and to stay close to what makes them feel alive. It's work. It's commitment. It's feeling naked when you put yourself out there over and over and over again. It doesn't ever stop, it just gets more familiar.
I am now going to transparently share what I have done to make my life work for me instead of the other way around.
What do I really mean when I say this? Well, for many of us we are working to keep our lives working. It may seem like a subtle shift or just moving some words around, but it means so much more. Who has a car that you pay for every month, that you drive to your job, sometimes sit in traffic, and leave your house (that you are also paying for every month) to sit, stand, or walk and work for someone else? You do this five days a week and perhaps look forward to the weekend only to fill your time off with errands and to do's to keep the main part of your five days flowing. You look forward to every break or holiday that comes your way to finally do the project, take the trip, or just plain relax. And then you get up and do it all over again every day, week, month, and year.
I don't share this long strand of examples to downplay the importance of working or paint a bleak picture, but I do share it to illustrate that it's all a choice, and if what I just described above is not working for you, why are you working for it?
I recently sat down with a circle of soul sisters online and held a fireside chat.
I opened up the door to my office and invited anyone in who has been wondering how I made the leap to go for my dreams, start building my own heart-centered empire, and restructuring my time so that I get to maximize my freedom while making an impact.
It was honestly a little nerve-wracking for me. I like to write. I enjoy having one-on-one conversations. I like listening to others, so to have the fireside glow spotlight on me while I went through every detail of my last almost 3 years of massive change felt intimidating to say the least.
I hope that what I share in this video speaks life into your one-of-a-kind dreams, whatever they may be. I hope it allows you to see that you have the same brave juice inside of your soul that I do. I hope it's clear that I have created many ways for us to connect and unite our positive forces, because in my life and work, I want to invite you in. I want to grow in the good with those that feel called to my message and my experiences that can serve you.
